I have my wesite but I also have some information that I want to give only to people who mail me.

How do I make a page/post which exists but doesn’t appear in the menu. With my previous theme which didn’t support child-pages it was easy as I just created a child page and it didn’t display in the menu but was still operational once the link was typed.

Recently I moved to a new theme (with sub-menu support) and all my hidden pages like: bank accounts, price list, maps and some private offers etc. became visible as sub-pages. I changed them all to ‘private’ and was super happy because they disappeared but still displayed once typed in the web browser. Well, I was happy until I realized that only I can see them because I am logged in as admin while viewing them . None of my clients saw the offers I mailed them?

So how do I create a page which is visible to everyone but not present in the menu?

  • Your theme is probably automatically displaying all the pages that you have created. My suggestions are:

    1. Try installing this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/simply-hide-pages/ (or something similar)

    2. If your theme has settings, check if it supports custom menus, so you can build one which you have full control over. If you have time, try going to your theme’s documentation or support forums.

However, this only stops the pages from displaying in the menu your theme uses and doesn’t prevent people from finding those pages via Google or by guessing URLs through their address bar.

Thanks for your help. I’ve browsed some plugins and found this one:
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/exclude-pages/
It installed nicely and works just like I want:

    1. Pages are not visible in menu.
    2. Pages are visible once the url is typed in the browser.

    Problem solved ??
