• Hello,
I can not find any tutorials or answers to my problem, so I write here, asking for guiding – as I do not have the necessary technical knowledge.

I have a wordpress blog (myname.com). I have successfully created a subfolder (myname.com/de) where I installed the wordpress. I intend to create other subfolders – where I want to publish the translated content of my site in different languages (I translate myself the posts).

The question is: how do I make the subfolder link (myname.com/de) to look the same as the main site? Should I install (in ”myname.com/de”) again the theme, the plugins etc.? Also – what about the images from Media Library? Should I upload them again for every post in the new site (subdirectory)?
So, what is right think to do after creating the new subdirectory and installing the wordpress on it?

Hope I made myself clear and could find an answer to go on with my content ??

    Thank you!

  • Hi @ionsu
I guess you want to have a multilingual website.
There is no point installing multiple wordpress in subdirectories to do that.
For me, You could use a multilingual plugin available here https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/
Here’s a good starter article to help you translate your site: LINK

If you still face any difficulty feel free to ask

Thank you, @randolphgamo for the answer. Yes, I want to make a website with the content translated into different languages.
I did not initially want to make it with a plugin. But I guess I have to. As I manage to analyze, only Polylang suits for me (because there are possibilities to add more than one language for free) I dont want to spend extra money for this now, that is why I thought creating a subdirectory is the best solution…
