There’s no default WordPress option to make your site “private”. I think it’s an option on WordPress.com (not the self-hosted installs).

You are mixing up .COM with .ORG. It’s a common misunderstanding. ??

So basically .com is not free and .org is free. Right?

The .COM is a service that’s free. But it has restrictions and limitations on what you can do.

The .ORG is the software that you can install on your own server and do anything you like with it. But it does require you to use your own or a shared server. You have to provide that part yourself.
