• Recently, I have been getting memory allocation failures when I click the ‘Clear image cache’ button. Two questions:
    1. Can I safely do this manually?
    2. Where is the cache located? I looked via FTP and couldn’t see it.

Thanks for any advice on this. Otherwise, I’m very happy with Nextgen. It works great!

@dskirk – Using the clear image cache functionality under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous is your best bet.

We will be offering additional settings than can be configured with the next release which may also help but this seems like you could be hitting PHP Memory Limit issues … what is your site’s current limit?

We generally recommend at least 128, preferably 256.

    Thanks!

The limit is 128. However, I’m not server-literate. I have two duplicate sites on same server: one is production and one is to test new plugins. The test version works fine, but the production version produces the message
Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 31457280 bytes)
When I click the Clear image cache button. The gallery has only 150 photos, so it’s a puzzle for me. However, I’m having no problems; clearing the cache was primarily just some housekeeping for me.
I do have a question: Do I ever need to clear the cache if I’m not having problems? And what would be symptoms of a Nextgen problem? I’ve been using Nextgen for two years with flawless performance. Thanks for any suggestions.
