I have been running WP multisite more or less happily for several months. I obtained and registered three new domains and installed the MU Domain mapping plugin but cannot get any further. Not sure if my terminology is right but I have a main domain patbell.co.uk with several subdomains including terrasancta.patbell.co.uk, squaremilelanguages.co.uk and jordanlancaster.patbell.co.uk. On my host cpanel I have three parked domains (those three but without the patbell). What I want to do is make it so, for instance, terrasancta.co.uk will show the web site at terrasancta.patbell.co.uk but show terrasancta.co.uk in the browser’s address box.

Typing eg terrasancta.co.uk shows me a hun site page listing my existing sites and giving me this opton The site you were looking for, https://terrasanctacouk.patbell.co.uk/, does not exist, but you can create it now!

Now what? I have entered my server IP in Domain Mapping COnfiguration, Net Admin…Domain Mapping->search domains finds nothing even after I have entered my parked domains in New Domain -> Domain saving and nothing happens… , my subdomain urls show no site id, I don’t see any ‘Active Domains’ listed so I am kind of stuck. Where now? The changing interface makes it difficult to know if I have dones the right things but whatever… I am stuck now, what have I done wrong?

I forgot to make clear I have gone through the help documentation and I do not see any list of my new domains either in domains, domain mapping or my network admin->sites. and my primary domain is patbell.co.uk and that is what I set in domains ->New domain set as primary (as well as the other three not set as primary)..

I am wary of entering a site_id (which seems to add a record but what should this number be) since the documentation makes no mention afaics of where this site id should come from (though the forum shows plenty of conflicting info about it). I have a single (multisite) installation of WP with all the wp folders directly off my public_html folder

Parking a domain requires restarting the web server for the configuration to take effect. Sometimes control panel service restarts fail.

Contact your web host support and ask them to restart the web server.

I hadn’t understood that it is the subdomain dashboard->tools->domain mapping rather than solely the network admin. It worked… many thanks.

but I now get on my subdomain target (terrasancta.co.uk and also messing up my menu on jordanlancaster.co.uk) is this just wp debug and will users not see this? It would be nice to fix though

    All working now afaics

    Thanks all
