• Hi, we researched this topic but couldn’t come to a solid conclusion. What we want is this: our current article permalink structure is https://xx.com/%postname%/

Now what we’d like is to change it so that each article’s URL contains its category name (assuming just one is selected, for starters). So we changed it in the Permalink Settings
    screen wp-admin/options-permalink.php
under “custom structure” (/%postname%/ to /%category%/%postname%/) but, of course what happened is that any old references on the web (e.g. other sites that mention our posts) to the old hierarchy will get a page not found error. So we’d like to know how to modify .htaccess to automatically redirect a url reference to
    https://xx.com/%postname%/
will be be redirected to https://xx.com/%category%/%postname%/
    .. greatful for any help…
