I have WP installed on a subfolder of my site. I would now like to move the entire installation from this subfolder to the main folder of my site.
Is there a way to do this without risking losing anything/everything? If I just copy it from one place to another, I am concerned that links will be broken.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Yes, the links will be broken if you do that. Have you carefully read:

That’s what I was afraid of. Rather than take any chances, can I do the following?

My site is composed of two sections, one created by a web site builder [on the root folder], and the other is WP [on a subfolder]. Can I install a separate copy of WP on the root, and set it up independent of the WP in the sub? MY goal is to convert all HTML pages made by the builder [WYSIWYG website Builder] over to WP pages.

The links from sub pages to root pages should for the most part still be OK, if I keep page names identical. Those I can check and fix, there aren’t too many.

My concern here would be 2 copies of WP running on the same domain and URL, except one is in the subfolder.
I hope I am explaining this better than it sounds.
    Thank you for the assistance,
    George

I think this is worth reading:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install

The way I have converted from HTML-only sites to WordPress is:

    1. Install WordPress in a subdirectory
    2. Convert HTML files one at a time to WordPress Pages, until done
    3. Do the copy of index.php from subdirectory to root and other steps (including Search and Replace), as described in that documentation
    4. Rename the index.htm or .html file in the root of the HTML-only site to oldindex.html
    5. See if my WordPress site works properly. If not, rename oldindex.html back to index.html
