How to not display child post in parent category?

    i’m wanting to change the way category pages work so rather than displaying all the posts in the categories below it’s own they only display posts in it’s own category.

    I have a good number of categories setup some with child categories and I want each category to display only it’s own posts (so the child status is really only for the menu structure to draw them differently)
