How to notify subscribers when using Portfolio Post Type plugin?

Hi all,

We’re using the “Portfolio Post Type” plugin. We want to notify subscribers by email when new posts are created. My first pass was to install and configure another plugin, “Subscribe2.” Both great plugins so far. However, I can’t seem to either configure or hack either one in order for subscribers to be notified when a portfolio post is created. Have spent some time looking for ideas in the forums, but can’t quite find a solution. Any ideas?
