• How do I add a mp4 file into a post as a gifv file?

I download a “gifv/mp4” file from imgur. Then upload it to my wordpress blog post. But it still gets insterted as a playable mp4 video files, instead of a gifv looping image type file.

I want to show the mp4 files inside my blog posts as gifv files but I’m not sure how to make it work?

That’s pretty much how the WordPress handles MP4s when embedding into a post by default. If you view source on this page https://petenelson.io/gifs/love-this-plan.gifv you’ll see that there’s a video tag to autoplay and loop the MP4, different than the standard WordPress embed which does not autoplay and loop, and it adds additional video player controls.

Is there a way to have the gifv file act like that when embeding an MP4 into a post? I want to have a list post with lots of GIFs/MP4s that all act like this.
