• I’m looking to find the best distribution method for my small network of news sites. I’m not sure whether I should concentrate on pushing articles to the child members or pulling them into the parent. I enabled a plugin that broadcast posts as well as a tags page plugin, resulting in one article bouncing back and forth nearly 100 times.

My network is composed of a central site that acts as the hub with three spoke sites. The goal is to publish an article, have it indexed by Google News, and make it available to the spokes.

    Any recommendations?

I would use the tags plugin (WordPress MU Sitewide Tags Pages) and publish on the children and ‘collect’ them on the mom.

    Thanks.

How do I restrict the collection process to just one way – just to the mom? I have the sitewide tags set to “Post to main blog.” It isn’t clear whether this means just the children blogs or all blogs.

Will this simply copy the article to the main blog, leaving two copies- one on the “child” and one on the “mom” ? What happens to the new copy placed on the “mom” — will it be copied back to the main blog, or is there a ‘safety value’ in the code to prevent such an endless loop?

Also, if I originate a post from a “child” blog, will my Google News sitemap on my main blog list the URL of the copy or the original?

That will collect all your posts on the children and repropduce them on the parent. Then, they do this awesome thing. The links on the MOm blog go back to the originating (children) sites. There is, as you say, a safety valve.

Posts made on the Mom directly will ONLY be on the mom. Posts on the children will be replicated in a Google-SEO-Friendly way.
