• Hi,

I have the WordPress Popular posts plugin installed and everything works well, I have a top 10 most popular posts list but I have a problem where users can click on a post multiple times within the same session and have the post rise up to the top of the list, thus gaming the views count.

Is there a way to prevent a users post view from being counted more than once within say a 12 hour period?

    James.

    Hi there!

Sorry for not replying earlier. Indeed, there’s no way to prevent this from happening as WPP doesn’t keep track of who viewed what, only what posts / pages have been visited.

I spent a good couple of hours today trying to find a suitable workaround but unfortunately the solution I came up with will surely break in future versions of the plugin so I’m not even going to post it here (for your sake and mine as well).

I’ll give it some more thought and if I find an acceptable workaround for this I’ll let you know.

    Thanks Hector.
