    Hello

I think I did not explain the problem properly in the previous support question, so am doing it in a new thread.

Some countries do not have states. When a buyer from one of these countries tries to make a purchase they are unable to do so as the State field is compulsory.

Is this system only workable for sales to countries where there are States (such as the USA and Canada)? If not, how does a purchaser from a country with no State (such as France, UK or Germany) to fill in continue to complete the purchase and check out. As the field is not completed, there is no way the purchase can proceed.

    Hello again,

In the core of the plugin, if the chosen country does not have associated states with it, the select list is transformed to free text field, where the user can type the state. However as mentioned in the other topic, it is possible to make the states optional, you can even remove the state fields from the form if you wish.

    Best Regards

I think this seems to be controlled by the Shipping Options? Is this where the States are stipulated? If so, then why am I seeing the States field being compulsory?

I have, for example, a Shipping Rate which covers European countries. I have highlighted all of the countries which I will sell to, and have highlighted the states that appear in the box below. Should I have left those all unhighlighted for each of the Shipping Rates for those countries? (I am offering three different rates for those countries, so it would have to be done for each of those rates).

I guess I am trying to understand what I have done wrong which is making the States field compulsory and the payment not able to be processed without. I appreciate the help and apologise for not getting it easily.

    Many thanks.

As I explained on the other post, this is now working just as you describe. I think it will be fine now, thanks so much for the help.
