    Hi,

I’m starting a sports blog in the summer and I want to be able to put posts on my homepage but have pages that when clicked on will take you to a separate page that will be the same as the homepage but will only show you stories relating to that topic e.g. A page labelled Barclay’s Premier League and when you have clicked on it will take you to a page that has all the posts to do with the Barclay’s Premier League. I have tried using categories but this hasn’t worked.

    Thanks

  • I think using tags is the best way for you to go ahead. Can you post a link to your site (or) let me know if you have a separate home page (as per your theme)?

The way I think this can be done is to clone your home page (home.php – ideally) into a new file tag.php and modify the loop in a way to pick up only the particular tag (I believe this can be achieved by looking at archive.php)

PS: A lot of this is just at the top of my mind. Haven’t really analyzed it through and through.

Do this using categories, not tags. See:

Add a category menu item to your custom menu.
