• Hello Experts!
I am new to WordPress. I am trying to create a site for my church.
    I have two questions:
    1. I have a Bible MySQL database (in Vietnamese), now I need to display it on my site with structured like any other Bible site, you know, menu (or sidebar) with Books and Chapters links… Could someone help me on how to do that? I don’t even know where to start and what to search on Google for help.
    2. I have a “Daily Reading Bible”, and I need to automatically display the corresponding Reading of that day. Could someone please help? Or just give direction on where to start.
    Much appreciated.
    Van

  • Hello huynhcasi,

If I have understood this correctly, you have a MySQL Database Bible and you wish to use that in WordPress, so WordPress has its Database connected to it, so you might need to import the MySQL database tables to WordPress database and try to use it.

It needs some technical assistance in case you are new to this, you might need some developer who can assist you further.

    Hope the information helps.

    Thanks.

Thank you Kartik for your help.
I found this plugin. Can you check to see if this is the right direction to go?

    Hi @huynhcasi,

What you’re wanting to do appears to be a fairly complex task that will require some significant advanced development experience. There will be a considerable amount of work required to pull the relevant data from the bible database and display it on screen.

It’s not just pulling the correct data – there will be additional work required to build the book and chapter links as indexes along with pagination and navigation between pages / chapters / books and display it all nicely on pages for website visitors.

If you are new to WordPress and you are not an experienced developer or don’t have an experienced developer to work on this it is likely to be a very difficult task for you to accomplish.

It may be worth reviewing existing plugins that may already do what you want (particularly for the verse of the day):
