    We sell dogs online. A customer put down a holding deposit, so we need to mark the dog as “on hold”, so it cannot be bought by other customers. We want it to continue to show on the site, but “on hold”.

    There’s documentation on how to put an order on hold, but how do we put a product?

    That’s an interesting question. One option would be to make the item out of stock. That way it can still be displayed with its price, but not be available for purchase. There’s not a direct “on hold” status for products like there is for Orders. Placing the item out of stock is about a close of an option as there is in the core.
