• I have a one page website.
On the left control panel, (In the WordPress dashboard) both “Posts” and “Pages” are empty when I click on them, since I have not created any pages or posts.
However, every detail I can find about using shortcodes, says to just
“Put in in a page” or “Put it in a post”. Since I have none, this is impossible.

How can I use a shortcode if the only 2 places it says I can post, do not exist?

I have had this problem for weeks now, would appreciate any help.
Please be very specific, I am still a new user.

  • Shortcodes are used within the content of a post or a page. You will need to create a page or a post to use shortcodes within them.

So you are saying that anyone with a 1 page website can NEVER use shortcodes at all? Which means its impossible to use on a homepage?

No if you have 1 page then you can use it on that one page. If you have no posts or pages in your WordPress dashboard where is your homepage content coming from??

A home page in WordPress is simply a page created in your WordPress dashboard and then assigned to by your Front Page.

Like I said, I’m new at this, and I’m not really sure how to answer your question.
Yes I have content, when I go through Appearance>Customization it brings me to the page I have been working on.
But when I go to Pages on the dashboard, it says no pages found.

I am using a pro version theme, Zerif Pro.
Not sure if that tells you anything more

As it is a “Premium” theme I suggest you contact the theme author for support with this matter.

Usually all themes will store the actual content of your site within Posts and Pages, this is how WordPress works, however some custom themes break with convention and may have you enter content into their own custom admin pages.

I have been consulting the theme author, he takes over 24 hours to answer me each time and has NO idea what he is doing. I’ve asked the question about 6 times, and the best I can get out of him is “Put it in a page or post”.

Any other ideas come to mind?

Unfortunately not, You are paying for a “Premium” service from your theme author and he should be able to support you. Public forums are not always able to help with issues related to such themes as we are unable to replicate the issues or see how the theme has been put together.

I’m sorry I can’t be any more help.
