How to rearrange the cateory at my navigator bar?

  • Hi, i am new user for wordpress, so need some advice fro pro….

    i have a theme that can have scroll down navigator for category. After i add the category one by one.. i realize i can’t control in the possition i want for example i want my “contact” category at last and my “main” category infront…

    can someone help me on this issue??

  • Alright,

    I am a new to wordpress also but I will try to help you to the best of my ability. The categories by default seem to be displayed in the chronological that you added them. Each category is assigned an ID and the IDs are then presented in the order you added them. So if you can change the ID, then you can ultimately change the order that they are displayed.

    To look at a category id, go to posts > categories (on your dashboard) and hover your mouse over the category. The category ID will be displayed in the bar generally at the bottom of your browser window where it will display where the link will take you.

    Now i’ve done a little search of the support forum on how to change your category IDs and apparently its not easy but there are easier ways of doing what you want to do. Take a look at this, hope it helps.

    that mean i can’t rename the id by myself??
