    A .htaccess file is often used to specify security restrictions for a directory, hence the filename “access”. The .htaccess file is often accompanied by a .htpasswd file which stores valid usernames and their passwords.

    These files include basic redirect functionality, for instance if a 404 file not found error occurs, or for more advanced functions such as content password protection or image hot link prevention.

    Its part of the setup for any wordpress file.

    I know what an .htaccess file is per se but why are you posting that one? It references at least one caching plugin and multiple references to AddType for no apparent reason. There is no way that should be added to A.N.Generic WordPress site.

    I’m sorry but I’m still lost here. That .htaccess file is only of any use if you are running,with custom permalinks. It should never be added to a site that is using the default permalink structure.
