    Hello,

I am using a wordpress theme that has a dynamic Media Bar in the main page, which I have then hardcoded into the footer. Because of this I cannot simply chose the option “Front page displays a static page” as that would kill the Media Bar.

That being said, I don’t want readers to see that “main” homepage, since its sole function is to enable the Media Bar.

So imagine I have, for example, mywordpresssite.com (which I don’t want people to see) and I’d like it to redirect to a page I’ve created in wordpress, say, mywordpresssite.com/page1

(I’m quite sure there are easier ways to explain what I want than this whole roundabout thing I just did – apologies because I can’t think of any at the moment)

    Thanks in advance

  • Sorry, I’m confused. I don’t understand what you’ve done.

I don’t know why the static page option would kill the media bar. I don’t understand how the ‘main’ page enables the bar, or what that means, and I am thinking that redirecting around that ‘main’ page would kill the media bar anyway since it is ‘enabled’ by a page that isn’t being loaded.

The reason you’re confused is because I manage to confuse even myself with what I’ve written. Perhaps it’s simpler to show it. Keep in mind that this will be moved to a different URL as soon as the client approves. Anyway:

The site is now located at https://www.mglscraps.com/calzone
I’d like people to start in https://www.mglscraps.com/calzone/pt

That does not mean that https://www.mglscraps.com/calzone isn’t being loaded, it simply means I’d like for people to not see it. Since I’ve removed any links to “home”, as it were, all I need is for https://www.mglscraps.com/calzone/pt to be the first thing people see when loading the site.

Have you tried adding a redirect or indexing through the control panel of your host?

Ah… that last piece of the URL is a language localization…

I think you are going to have to setup some kind of redirect but since you have your WordPress root at “calzone/” you will need to be carful not to break WordPress. I’d have to think about it and experiment some, probably, before I could give you any advise that I am comfortable with.

… And apparently the media bar decided to start working on its own even when I set the home page to be the static “pt” page. Thanks for having given this a thought, it’s fixed now (even if I don’t know how :P).
