You could do a search for the dot in the PHP and just delete it.

the ‘dot’ is likely a bullet point of an unordered list;

use a browser inapection tool to find out how the ‘recent posts’ list is formatted, and overwrite it in style.css of the theme or via a custom CSS plugin.

I have the same problem. I treid to find where I had to change the list in list-style:none. I did not find it. Is there somebody who already find out this???

I had the same problem; what OP described is the default behavior for this plugin. Fixed in the CSS from the Widget screen:
