how to remove a part of the center column

    I want to make some editing in the title area of my website.
    i want to cut the title area , so that the background image of wood planks can show up. Then i would like to write the title in a specific font just over that area . Now this way it would seem like i have written the title over background image of wood planks.

    Is this possible ..
