Hello! I’m looking for a way to remove the featured image from individual posts while retaining an image for that post on the front page.

    See for example here:

    https://shebloggedbynight.com/

I removed the featured image on one post to show what I’m talking about:

    https://shebloggedbynight.com/2017/s-o-b-1981/

On the front page, there is no image for that particular post, it’s just text in its “block.” All the other posts have a featured image which provides image and text in their “block.”

Basically, what I wanted to do was avoid the half-and-half look on individual blog posts where the featured image was on the left 50% of the page and the content was on the right 50%. I actually like that look a lot aesthetically, but I have always incorporated large pictures in my reviews and want/need them to be full size in the blog post proper.

When I remove the featured image I get exactly what I’m looking for on the blog post itself, but it changes the front page in a way I would like to avoid.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!

@sbbn – you can do this with the refreshed version of the theme, Dyad 2, and Jetpack’s Content Options feature.

You can download Dyad 2 here: https://wordpress.com/theme/dyad-2

You’d go into the Content Options panel in the Customizer and uncheck “Display on single posts.” Not only will this remove the featured image on single posts, it will give the posts the layout you’re looking for.

Be sure to back up a copy of any custom CSS, as you will need to re-add it after switching themes. You may also need to re-assign any menus and widgets, but you shouldn’t lose their settings.

Thank you, that was exactly what I needed! The only thing I had to do was redefine a menu, but otherwise it was pretty much just plug-and-play.

    Glad that did the trick!
