how to remove highlight from selected item in menu

    HI all – this is my first go at wordpress…

    I get a purple highlight of items selcted in header menu – it is unwanted and I have no idea how to get rid of it – any suggestions will be most welcome

    This is how it shows (in this case when the home page selected – but the same happens with any other item in the menu):

  • Hi, Is this the default style offered by the theme you are using? Or you ended up configuring it that way and not sure how to revert or change it?

    Either way it would be helpful to know the website URL so that I can check and provide pointers.

    Hi and thanks for the reply. The website is currently on local server at home but I might be able to upload it temporary to a free host so will have a go and post a link when I am done…

    I use elementor and started with the default elementor hello theme. I have not changed anything sitewide – only added a { text-decoration: none !important; } to the customised css option in under Appearance-customise in wordpress

    There must be an option somewhere in Elementor to change that color. Suggest you check out their user guide.

    I have done some digging into elementor now and figured out that this is due to the preset in simple menu widget – if i change the preset than i get a different result (which is also terrible) – any idea how this can be override? I assume that wordpress custom css will be able to overide it but cant figure out the css code…

    I have now posted this question in the elementor sub.

    Unless someone familiar with Elementor sees this question, you will probably have better luck with their dedicated support channel.

    When you go to edit the preset within Elementor, the menu widget must have hover style configuration where you can chose a different color.

    Thanks all – I have now found the hover option and sorted it out.
