I have a sidebar on every page of my site. Then I added Event Espresso Decaf 4 and I ran into a problem. The sidebar on the EE Registration page is pushed all the way below all other content. I either want to FIX the sidebar on this and any other EE pages, so that it begins to display from near the top of the page, OR remove the sidebar from EE pages. It appears that there is no way to specify page template, at least via the page editor inside the Dashboard, on EE pages. Could someone help me with this?

    My website is https://mudstrawlove.com/
The EE Registration page is here: https://mudstrawlove.com/events/earthbag construction workshop/

    Thank you!!

    Hi Susan,

I checked the event page and in the source it looks like there are two extra closing div tags. The two extra closing tags will cause the sidebar to drop.

You can fix the page by going in to edit the event, switch to the text editor tab, and remove the two extra </div> tags, then save the event.

If the above does not help, you can also try running the web page through a validator, there is more information about validating source code here.

Hi Josh, Thanks for your speedy reply. I found an extra div in the description content and took that out, but the page with unfloated sidebar didn’t change, so then i ran the page thru the w3c validator and find 91 errors in the Event Espresso code. I don’t know where I would fix those, or how.

    Hi Susan,

It turns out there were two extra closing divs in the description content. I checked again and there’s only one now, so you’re almost there!

You’ll find the other extra closing div on the end of the line in the event description that reads as follows:

<p>Slide show during lunch (bring your own).</p></div>

You can remove the remaining extra closing div, and this will fix the issue with the dropped sidebar and fix the invalid html on your web page.

Here’s a little preview/mock up of your web page that includes the result of the extra closing div removed:

    Hi Josh!

You are absolutely correct! I DID miss that second div, and removing it allowed the sidebar to float magnificently to the top where it belongs!

There is still a very large number of html errors showing up in the W3C Validator, which is a bit disquieting, but my strong bet is that Event Espresso is working away at these and they’ll be gone in future updates.

So THANK YOU for helping me out with this. I look forward to using this very cool plugin and introducing it to my clients. ??

Hi Garth, We decided to postpone the deployment of Event Espresso for my client’s workshop that was May 2-3. We plan to fire it up before their next event late in the summer 2015. I pledge to review that experience, which I fully expect to be quite good based on my initial experience. ??
