  • You have linked a file to the post and that is what is showing. If you want the text to show you will need to add it as text to the post.

    Hope that helps,
    Don

Thanks for the quick response Don! Although, I’m not quite sure what you mean by ‘add it as text to the post’. This is not a blog page, it’s just our website…

You will see it is also happening here: https://www.communitywarehouse.org/cwv01
    Does that help?

Sure, but blog posts and pages are put together in essentially the same way. What you have on those pages now are links to the PDF files. If you remove the links and actually enter the information into the content area of the page it will show up as text.

    Hope that helps,
    Don

I thought that logo and name were familiar!

Thanks Don….and I apologize, I don’t think I’m being very clear on my end. I do want the text to link to the PDF file as it does currently (it opens up a new browser window with the file), I just don’t want the additional box and name below it (the adobe acrobat PDF icon with the ‘Annual Report 2013’ text below.)

    Does that make sense?

Oh really? Are you familiar with our organization?!

I am aware of your organization. I live in Portland. You are providing some much needed services. Good job!

    Regarding your WordPress issue:

I don’t know how familiar you are with working with code but I will let you know what I see. You have some extra code in your page. The code also has a few other issues. If all you want to show is the name of the file with a link to that file you would have something like this:

    <p><a href="https://www.communitywarehouse.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Annual-Report-2013.pdf">Annual Report 2013</a></p>

That will provide you with what you need.

    Hope that helps,
    Don

Aw, well thanks! I’m grateful to work for such a wonderful organization. Neat to know you’re in Portland, too. Cheers.

So, I’m not sure if there’s a bug or some other sort of issue, but when I place the code you provided above (and no additional text) in the ‘text’ tab, the icon still populates. I wonder if it’s something in the themes/style css?

I have very basic knowledge with code (I’ve learned html only through dabbling in wordpress.) I’ve been adding PDF links to our website for about 2 years now, and this is a new issue. The icons never showed up before, and I don’t think I’m doing anything differently when I upload. The code also looks the same.

    Very odd…

    What theme are you using?

I need to head out and won’t be able to get back to you on this until later.

    Theme Name: Community Warehouse
Description: Custom theme for the communitywarehouse.org website.
Built off WordPress default theme “Twenty Ten”.
    Author: OnStance Web Media
    Version: 1.0

A few years back, we had a web company help us set up a custom theme.

No problem – thank you so much for your help thus far! I’ll explore a few more options and let you know if I find a fix.

Thanks again – really appreciate your help. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Were you able to resolve this?

I looked at your site and I see that the icons are still there but they don’t detract from the post, and may even help people to see what file type the links are for. It looks really great the way the 2012 Annual Report has displayed with the image.

    Don
