How to remove the Comments from the page.

Suggestion:

If it doesnot work ,you can open the PHP file and remove the comment part.
Open the particular themes folder .

wp-content/themes/themes-name/single.php

Settings >> Discussion >> uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles”

This applies to new posts that you will publish from now on.

To disallow comments from already publish posts:

Posts >> select them all and “Edit” under bulk actions and hit apply >> choose “do not allow” next to comments and hit update posts.

Thank you xyonme, but I opened single.php file and couldn’t see anything concerning comments.

I am having the same problem:
I am using theme twenty fourteen.
Yesterday I managed to remove all the comment boxes at the bottom of each page by going to settings/ discussion and deselected all the comments related items, I then cleared the browser cache several times. saved all changes.
Some of the comment boxes vanished those that did not I did manually and also went into screen options and removed comments setting.
I saved all changes .
I just now opened the website and all comment boxes are back.
Help is needed for this old biddy to get it right.
