How to remove unwanted text added to blog posts

    For some reason or other (a WordPress upgrade maybe) all blog posts on my website now include an unwanted appended block of text, about subscribing to RSS feeds (which I no longer wish to do). The linked-to page provides an example. The text in question is in the box, beginning “If you are new here…”. I can’t locate where this text comes from and how to stop its inclusion. I considered using a string-locator plugin to search my WordPress file system, but backed off when I found warnings that the plugin is unreliable. I am a rank WordPress amateur, but happy to edit source code if I can find the right place. Any help appreciated!

    This may be added by a plugin or theme. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-One theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

    If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Thanks James. I found my own workaround. I downloaded a full backup, unzipped it and then used windows command line first to cd to target directory (the site theme proved to be a good choice); then the command line search utility
    findstr /s /i “distinctivebitoftext” *.*
    It found the source of the unwanted text in the theme file index.php
