How to remove/hide the posting category menu from the blog template?

I am using the template for a blog content only. For this particular purpose, I found having both the navigation menu and category menu is redundant. Is there any way to hide/remove the category menu section from the blog page template? I am planning to use the navigation menu as the only way to navigate to blog category section.
