How to remove/replace "hand"-icon infront of headlines

You have to change your CSS. To add custom css you can create child theme or use plugins.
For Plugins:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-add-custom-css/
Activate the plugin.
and add following code inside the Custom CSS box.

.format-standard .entry-title::before {
    content: "\f069 ";
}

.entry-title::before {
    content: "\f0a4 ";
    font-family: "FontAwesome";
    margin-right: 10px;
}

Click Save.Your icon should now be replaced.

Note:You can replace content: “\f069 “; with any icon you like.For complete list of icons see https://webdesignandsuch.com/how-to-add-font-awesome-icons-with-css-complete-character-cheatsheet/

I added the code you provided to the Custom CSS box of one page but the icon’s still there.

After activating the plugin I suggested, Go to {}Add Custom CSS->Wordpress Add Custom CSS->paste the code inside CSS rules box and SAVE it.

By the way: It’s the headline-icon on all pages exept the News-Page with the comments. There is a different one.

unfortunately I don’t have the website online yet. It’s running an a local Apache.

The “hand”-icon is active by standard installation of The-WP-Theme, even if the Demo doesn’t show it.
