I receieved an email explaining how JetPack is now modularised (Great, as I only use some features).

However, the article did not explain HOW to update from the single bulk version to individual modules.

    For example:
    1) Do I uninstall the Bulk module first and then install the single modules I want?
    2) Do I run them side by side first?
    3) Is there complete feature parity for each feature in the Bulk module or do I need to keep it for sometime?

A mapping of how to upgrade by Tab would be great.

  • I agree, I’m looking for this too. In addition, I’m paying for Jetpack Backup (real time) and Jetpack Premium. I’m only interested in Jetpack Backup and Jetpack Social, what happens to my subscriptions if I move from Premium etc to using the plugins?

    Hi @rodneyjoyce,

If understood correctly, with “Bulk module”, you mean the Jetpack plugin, and with “single modules”, you mean our Standalone plugins. Right?

Do I uninstall the Bulk module first and then install the single modules I want?

You can go this way, or you can also install the standalone plugins you want and remove the Jetpack plugin.

Do I run them side by side first?

You don’t require to run them side by side first; you can uninstall the Jetpack plugin and can run only standalone plugins (that you need).

Is there complete feature parity for each feature in the Bulk module or do I need to keep it for sometime?

Whatever feature we have in the Jetpack plugin is also in the respective standalone plugins. You will not get less feature there in standalone plugins, in fact, you will get some extra features in standalone plugins.

If you have the Jetpack plugin installed and suppose you have the Search feature active there, and now you have installed Jetpack Search standalone plugin, then also nothing will change on your site. And even if you will remove the Jetpack plugin, Jetpack Search will continue to work via the Jetpack Search plugin.

You can use Jetpack and standalone plugins together or separately, and whatever option you enable at Jetpack plugin, the option will automatically enable at the standalone plugin as well because they are linked to each other.

Another example could suppose you have the Facebook Publicize option enabled at the Jetpack plugin, and you uninstalled the Jetpack plugin and installed the Jetpack Social plugin, then also the Facebook publicize option will enable at Jetpack Social plugin because you had enabled it in the Jetpack plugin.

    Hi @kip-kniskern

I’m only interested in Jetpack Backup and Jetpack Social, what happens to my subscriptions if I move from Premium etc to using the plugins?

Your subscription will still be there, and you can use the standalone plugin via that subscription.

For example, since the paid plan you have includes the Backup feature, if you install Jetpack Backup standalone plugin, your Backup feature will also work there as you already have a subscription with us for the particular feature.

I also recommend starting your own separate thread in the forum, as per the forums welcome guide to avoid confusions between replies.
