How to resize header image

    I made a child theme and managed to resize the blog page in style.css so that it is 1080px wide now. What do I have to do if I want to insert a header image with the different size (like 1080×250)? Now it tries to crop the image to 1600×230.

    I have been reading the forum and I think you should do some coding in the functions.php under the child theme but could you give me some example code what I should do.
