how to resize post thumbnail?

Have you tried doing the simple method first to see if this fixes your problem? See this picture:

Messing around with the code isn’t a good idea unless you are working in the Child Theme.

The alternative is write a simple css code that would re-size your thumbnails when they are embedded on a page automatically.
