    Gday Mate,

A the moment you need to do this manually. I wrote a blog post on how to do it with cPanel and PhpMyAdmin here => https://www.mikeyd.com.au/2011/10/26/restoring-wordpress-from-a-backup-to-dropbox-using-cpanel-and-phpmyadmin/

The web moves fast so it might be a little out of date.

    Cheers,

Mikey,I read the blog but for me it is to difficult. If you manage this that you can get back that backup data for working web than it is a PREMIUM ++++ plugin. Otherwise it is nice to have a backup but have to find someone who is able to restore.

    regards

The plugin seems to make two sql files – one for core and one for plugins.

    Hi Mikey,

Great plug in and I’ve had the worst happen.

My website was hacked and I’m now trying to restore it from the backup.

I followed your instructions here: https://www.mikeyd.com.au/2011/10/26/restoring-wordpress-from-a-backup-to-dropbox-using-cpanel-and-phpmyadmin/

    But I have an issue.

I’m trying to restore this website on a different hosting service. So the database names for the SQL file don’t match.

Trying to restore it as you described returns an error message telling me I can’t create new database and access is denied. Is this because the new host has a different prefix on the database than the old host?

Are there different instructions some place for restoring a website on another hosting server?

I already created a new database and got the WP files uploaded, changed the wp-config.php files to point at the new database and this got my website up, but I’m missing all the database files, pictures and theme formating.

Any help you can provide would be amazing.

Love the plug in, it’s super simple. I know I have anything I need, just need some guidance on how to use it.

    Thanks!

P.S. Also I noticed there are 2 SQL back ups, one for the “core” files and one for “plug-ins”

    How do I use these?

    Hi Sdulai,

First of all i know its old post…but since google sends the search traffic here…it might be helpful to leave a solution here.

So to restore the database, you can do it manually or more easy is to use phpadmin in your cpanel and import the database backup from the dropbox backup folder.

Its not actually a WordPress plugin, its a stand alone tool designed to work without WordPress.

This plugin broke my site. Set to backup at 11pm last night and still backing up at 11am this morning. Stopped backup but then although site still viewable couldn’t access it to administer. Had to remove plugin via cpanel to gain access to it.
Also tried to using the restore download. Installed it into a newly created subdirectory but just kept ending up in my Dropbox account. Gave it up as a lost cause.
