Nowhere in this plugin page is there a clear instruction on how to restore. Making an archive was easy. Done. Now I’ve gotten that “archive” file (with database only, which is what I want) on to my localhost. Where should I start?

The verbose documentation on the site has lots and lots of links, but confusingly, says I should paste the “installer and the archive” into an “empty folder”. I did that.

Note that the “installer” is called “installer_backup.php”. When I click this with my https://localhost/installer_backup.php, it tells me “archive not found”! What’s the point? I downloaded an entire zip file with these folders:

    dup-installer
    .htaccess
    wp-config.php
    installer_backup.php

Secondly, it has a warning that WordPress files are not found in this folder. What the heck? I was told to put these archive files in an “empty folder”!

Sounds like a dumb UI. Anyway, would appreciate any guidance on what to do to backup (from site A) and restore (in site B) — you know, the very definition of “migration” — and where I can find simple instructions.

    Thanks.

  • Hey @morespinach,

I would check out the quick start guide and the videos at the top it has step by step details of the process.

If you are still are running into issues we can give you more in-depth help from our help system if you want.

Also to clarify the installer_backup.php is simply a copy of the installer should the orginal get lost, typically most users use the one provided along side the archive file. The database only option is also intented for an existing WordPress install and is more of an advanced feature whereas the full install is the recommended approach, especially for new users.

    Hope that helps~

Thank you for the quick revert. Much appreciated.

I’ve gone through the restore process now. It went fine:

Yet, when I login to the “Admin Login”, it tells me index.php not found. That’s pretty basic. What am I missing?

    Welcome any ideas.

Nevermind. I figured it out. Your UX team should make things much simpler. In trying to cater to all random variations, you’ve made the most common path of operation way too complex. Anyway, thanks.

Thanks @morespinach for the feedback! We are working to create a more streamlined version for future versions.

    Cheers~
