    Hi,

I wanted to know about the advanced ads plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/advanced-ads/

How can I restrict/show the specific ad to the specific user?

For example, if I have users and they have some particular tags

    I have 3 ads

I wanted to show the ad #1 to the user who has the tag A.
I wanted to show the ad #2 to the user who has the tag B.
I wanted to show the ad #3 to the user who has the tag C.

Also, how can I restrict/show the Adsense Ads based on the user tags as I have explained above.

    Waiting for your quick response.

    Regards
    Umair

    Hi Umair,

    thanks for reaching out.

WordPress does not have a core feature to tag users. Knowing how you do that might help me with finding the solution.

Advanced Ads does not have an option to show an ad to a very specific user. Maybe, you could elaborate on why you want to target one user only. I am interested to learn about this use case.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

First of all thanks for your quick response!

Well we are using Memberium and infusionsoft on our website so whenever the user is created the particular tags get added to the user from the infusionsoft campaign so what we want in the advanced Ads plugin to have the ability to restrict/show the Ads on the bases of the particular tag user have.

Even when you go into the plugin and while creating Ad it shows the section display conditions and in the if see there is a option of tags if i select that option it just shows the condition Tag is/ not is and do not provide the option select the tag or type the Tag.

Can you please let me know how can i achieve my goal and handle this with Advanced Ad plugin or if you know any other plugin which provide such functionality that would be great please let me know i need the solution on priority basis.

    Thanks!

    Hi Umair,

the Tags in the Display Conditions are indeed the WordPress tags, which relate to posts. If your tags are user based then Advanced Ads is not able to handle them out of the box. The plugin has plenty of hooks which a WordPress developer could use to accomplish this, but it would need some custom development.

I believe that Advanced Ads already has the largest number of conditions and don’t know any other ad plugin that has a feature that would help you out of the box.

    Hi Thomas,

But when I select the tag condition it does not provide any list of tags or any input field where I can enter the tag. Do you know how the Tags show up for selection in Advanced Ads plugin?

    Hi Umair,

I am not sure we are talking about the same kind of “tags” here.

Are your tags somehow visible on your site? If so, could you please send me a link?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

The tags can be seen on the backend inside the users.

Here is the link to the screenshot for your reference

Kindly let me know if you know how we can restrict/show the Adsense Ads to different peoples based on the specific tag

    Hi Umair,

could you please contact the Memberium developers and ask them about how they store these tags?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

You mean to say we need to apply the custom logic for showing the specific tags to the specific users?

The plugin does not have any built-in option to assign the tags.

Correct me if I am wrong.

    Hi Umair,

Advanced Ads works with post tags, which you can find under _Posts > Tags_.

If your “tags” are not showing up there then they are technically different from what we support. This is why I asked about how they are saved and what the developer has to say about it. I want to make sure that we are talking about the same.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

Can you let me know the answer for the below points?

#1) If it does not do it out of the box, how can we program it to happen
#2) he mentioned webhooks…what about using those
#3) how do we create our own condition (code) that will look for the tags
#4) is the code open source
#5) who is a programmer that we can hire to that knows your plugin and can do the work?

    Regards
    Umair

    (@webzunft)

    Hi Umair,

#1) I don’t know yet how these user tags are saved, so I can’t say if Advanced Ads can do it, but it sounds like we have no option for that, yet

#2) “hooks”, not “webhook”. In this case, you could use a filter hook like advanced-ads-can-display. You can find an example on https://wpadvancedads.com/codex/filter-hooks/.

#3) sorry, providing step-by-step instructions is out of the scope of the support I can give here. The simplest way for you might be to check out one of the add-ons which register a new visitor condition, like Advanced Ads Pro or Responsive or the free Browser Language add-on that you get when you sign up to the newsletter

#4) Advanced Ads as hosted here is licensed under GPL

#5) there are probably a lot of developers you could hire. They would basically need to know PHP and WordPress hooks. Of course, there is no one knowing Advanced Ads better than I do. Since this is out of the scope of the forum or might touch premium features you can reach out through our support page.

    Thanks,
    Thomas
