    Hello
Both guests and subscribers are downloading files too soon; in many cases 4-5 downloads for same file in 1 min interval. This situation causes mis-counting issues and also inflates-increases the bandwidth limits of my hosting account.
I want to assign a limitation rule for all kind of downloads for example only 1 download in 30 seconds. If any user or guest try to download more frequent; a warning page will be seen.
How can we solve this problem?

  • Hello @archivisttr-1,

We have an add-on https://www.download-monitor.com/extensions/advanced-access-manager/ through which you can limit the download. This add-on only counts as 1 download even if the user downloads multiple files within a 1 minute interval. It will help you limit the inflated counts, however, it would not help with the bandwidth limit. For that, you can use some other plugins such as WordFence, etc.

    Hi
i am also thinking to buy the advanced acc man.
by the way i am already using wordfence but i did not catch the limiting download interval option in that plugin. if you help about that i will be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hello @archivisttr-1,

WordFence does not have a direct option, but you will need to use it to set it up so that a file or page is accessed more than once within few seconds, you can block the user’s IP.

the main problem is clicking the same download button over and over. and the other problem is exploiting the site content and resources.
%80 of my download monitor log record is showing that the same file is being downloaded for at least 3-4 times at the same time period (following seconds)
and the other one is this: i have approximately 1000 files to download. the user (subscribed and guest) can download them non-stop; seems like exploitation.
for registered users; with the access manager extension i think that we can set up all -subscribers- to download a scheduled number only (for example 30) and after every download total amount counts down.
a general rule to regularize all types of downloads 15 seconds of time limit is fare enough i think.
i hope that there should be other way than recording ip numbers to database.
    here is an example site works with same logic what i want;
    https://altyazi.org/sub/s/420936/The-Sealed-Room.html
in that page if you click the “altyaziyi indir” button too soon a blank page will be seen that writes “flood control” on top left of the new page.
so i do not think that this site’s system is recording my ip and then query it with time interval and gives a result as that flood control page… operation seems more simpler than that..
    thank you so much
