    Hi!

I’d like to know if it’s possible to retrieve *all* (eg. fist 10) products sorted by price descending, to get the 10 most expensive items on Amazon.
I tried to use the ‘*’ wildcard in keyword search, and order the results by price descending, but it displays random products instead.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Setting the Sort Order unit option to Price Descending should do it. But I noticed that it does not work with some locales in the latest version. I’ve uploaded a development version (v3.5.5b02) and it should let you do what you asked.

So please try it and let me know if it works for you or not. Thank you.

Thank you, I will try it. Can I directly upload the dev. version to my WordPress installation with FTP?
What should I put in the keyword search field? Leaving it empty doesn’t work. Should I put a ‘*’ wildcard?

    Thank you!

I reread your initial question and it seems that what you asked is not possible at the moment, sorry. If a category is selected, you can retrieve products sorted by price descending, however.

Can I directly upload the dev. version to my WordPress installation with FTP?

Yes. Or you can upload it via Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New -> Upload Plugin (button) after uninstalling the plugin.

What should I put in the keyword search field? Leaving it empty doesn’t work. Should I put a ‘*’ wildcard?

The Amazon Product Advertising API only lets you sort items if a category (search index) is specified. And yes, the * wildcard seems to work within a set category.

A workardound I can think of requires additional code to be written. It is to create product search units for each category (search index) with the sort order of price descending and create a url unit pointing to those units’ preview pages and then sort them by price. Currently, there is no option for sort by price applied to fetched data.

If you really need the functionality and are interested in funding the plugin development, please contact me via the contact form.

Please make sure the plugin version is v3.5.5b02. The installed version number can be found by going to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Amazon Auto Links or hovering the mouse cursor over the Amazon Auto Links link in the bottom of the plugin setting pages.

And please try reselecting and saving the Sort Order unit option by going to Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Manage Units -> Edit (of your choosing unit).

Let me know how it goes.
