How to select when emails are sent

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to select which event you notify your users about. I.E, I am using this plugin as a way to notify my readers when a new post goes up on the blog, but I don’t want them to get notified when a comment is posted, etc.
Any way to select the events which trigger the emails, or do we have to use them all if we use this plugin?
