How to SEO – When Deleting User's Post

Hi Joost,

I have a question and would like to know your advise – I believe others may would like to know the answer to this too. This relates to search engines SEO – especially Google’s point of you.

A How to SEO, when deleting a user’s post.

If I delete a user and his posts (which may have good ranking)

What would be the best course of action (looking at Google / Googlebot)

A. Let the it go to 404 (which is a good customized 404),
B. Redirect 301 to the same category, where the post were – (so it’s a relevant redirect).
C. In the Google account – should do anything to tell Google of the deleted posts?.
