How to set different capability for different Custom Post Type?

  • I can’t set different capabilities on different custom post type. When I select different capability for another CPT after saving one, it changed back to all custom post type from the menu. What could be the problem, and how to solve it?

    Capability for custom post type (CPT) is defined at the moment of CPT registration. If CPTs are defined with the same ‘post’ capability type, all such CPTs will be managed by ‘edit_posts’, etc. capabilities, default for the WordPress built-in ‘post’. Capability is granted to a role not to CPT. So if you granted ‘edit_posts’ to once you will see it at all capabilities groups, which CPT has the same capability type ‘post’. More detais – here.
