• I see this plugin is more concentrated on football. I am using this to setup site for cricket and have installed Cricket pre setup plugin also.

Now when I add an event/Match for cricket, I do not know how I can set its format? As this could be a T20 cricket match (20 overs), a One Day cricket match (50 hours), or Test Match (4 Days). Please advice how I can setup these using this plugin and maintain player/team stats separately for all three formats?

Overall this plugin is great effort and real flexible to support most of the sports.

    Hi!

    Thank you for your message.

Would you mind explaining a little bit more the differences between these 3? Don’t worry about the SportsPress-side of things, just explain to us what is different in them so we can figure out the best way to add your data

PS: We usually recommend you guys to open one topic per issue, so once one is solved it’s always better to open a new one, and if you have multiple questions try to break them down into smaller topics, so it won’t get too long and confusing

    Kind Regards,

    Hello Roch,

Thanks for the response. The are three different formats in Cricket. 1st is T20 known as Twenty Twenty that consists of twenty overs match, both teams bat for twenty overs and the team making most runs wins,
The 2nd format is 50 hours match know as ODI(One Day International) consists of 50 hours. Both teams are given 50 overs to bat.
Than 3rd match format consists 5 days known as (Test Match). Both teams bat two times one after the other. And the team scoring most runs in the end wins the match. The play continues for 5 days 90 overs are bowled each day, with one lunch break at noon and tea break at after noon.

So my question is how we can setup this scenario in this plugin where we can define match format and then be able to display player stats for each format separately.

The other question was not related to cricket but a general question, how can mark a player as captain of a team. Let me know if you want separate post for this question. I will post one.

    Kind Regards,
    Aamir

    Hi!

    Thanks for the bump.

As for your issue, I believe the biggest challenge is setting up the multiple days, as it isn’t really a SP feature. If you don’t mind adding only the initial day for that one, what you can do is to use different match outcomes.

For example, instead of win / loss you’d have winT20, winODI, win Test Match (and loss for each of them).

This way you can assign different points for each type of match and you can use this data for eventual corrections in the front-end (for example if you want to show the match type you can get then win type and show that).

Then under Event results you’ll add the minimum “breakdown” you want for the scores to be saved. This can get tricky, for example in soccer it’s just 1st half and 2nd half, but you can add as many segments as you want AND you can add segments that are empty. For example if you want it to be DayOne, DayTwo,… for the 5-day-match you’ll fill all of them, but for the 1-day you’ll just use one and that’s ok.

The captain can be assigned as a player performance data. So you’ll add 1 for the capitain and no data for the others.

Let me know if it’s a bit clearer now!

    Kind Regards,
    -Roch
