How to set slide background color?

In the Free version of Smart Slider you would need to set the background color for each of your slides one-by-one:

The Pro version offers the option to set a background color for your entire slider:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1722-slider-settings-general#slider-design
which would show up behind all slides, so the color here would have to be setup only at one field.

I just tried, following your advice to set 1 slide background color + stretching this color
till the boundary of the image/slide but the color in the background remains on top of the slides’ image and the border padding remains the same although the value is 0 both in the
background color part than in the content part. Also now I can’t take the background color away!
I made the changes in the first 2 slides of this page

The problem on your slider is that you set the background color on the Content layer:

but you need to set it on the Slide:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1724-slide

You should open the Layer List:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1815-layer-list
select the Content element and remove the the background color from the Style tab. Then use the Layer List again and select the Slide and set a background color at its Style tab. Make sure the Overlay option stays disabled, and this way the color will appear behind the image.
