    Hi
I have been using Pods for nearly a month now and don’t understand how to set up bidirectional relationships.

I have watched most of the videos but it doesn’t help as you are not told how to do it and are we just linking 2 Pods together or are we linking the fields together in these Pods.

I would like to use it but I can’t set it up properly.

    Hello @morris373

    Bi-directional relationships works as follows:

    – 2 Pods
    – Both have a relationship field, related to the other Pod
    – In the the field settings, the bi-directional setting is set to the field of the other Pod.

Once this is correctly setup, the relationship status will automatically be synched.

If a Pod 1 item adds a new relationship to an item from Pod 2 then this item automatically gets a relationship to the Pod 1 item as well.

    Use case:

    – Pod 1: Product
    – Pod 2: Event
    – Relationship field in the Product Pod: rel_event > Related to the rel_product field from the event pod.
    – Relationship field in the Project Pod: rel_product > Related to the rel_event field from the product pod.

Once a Product adds a relationship to an Event then that Event automatically also adds a relationship to the same Product.

This is the idea of a bi-directional relationship.
Both Pods could also just add the relationship fields without enabling bi-directional sync. In that case, when adding a Project to a Product, the Event doesn’t automatically adds the Product to it’s list of relationships.

Hope this clears things for you!

    Cheers, Jory
