    Hi,

I am trying to setup the tax for my ebook sales, but I live in British Columbia Canada. The tax basically is 5% GST which is country wide + 7% provincial sales tax. How do I do this in Easy Digital Downloads correctly so I don’t get the tax people after me.

Any help on this would be great.

    Thanks,

    Trent

  • Hi,

You can setup tax from Plugin Settings > Taxes tab. In that choose your country, Choose State (If needed) then enter your tax rate as per country and save.

Please refer below screenshot so you will be more cleared

You can apply the settings as per your need. Now when user choose “Canada” country from checkout page then “Tax” will be auto applied on final amount.

You can refer plugin documentation also

Actually it doesn’t makes sense now.

I need two separete lines one saying provincail(bc)tax of 7% and canada(GSt) or 5% for a total of 12%. Since I live in BC, I have to charge this rate regardless to any purchaser.

First line I entered in the tax section:
    Country: Canada
    Province: British Columbia
Country Wide: Apply to whole country
    Tax rate: 7%

    Second Line:
    Country: Canada
    Province: blank
Country Wide: Apply to whole country
    Tax rate: 5%

This is not adding them both together. If I just put 12% as the tax rate then I will have trouble figuring out the at the end of tax year.

    Please help.

    Hi @trentalor1138

I have checked the same process but it does not allow multiple taxes for same country with “Whole Country” option. Any of one will work.

Actually you have to add 12% tax rate for it as it calculate one tax rate. In order and calculation I think it will take one tax rate not multiple.

Here what you can do, you can apply 12% tax rate for Canada and when order placed then you can display two portion of tax by Hook or Fitler in admin side OR you may have any suggestion.
