I’ve got Site Kit installed. I now want to add scroll depth tracking for my pages, to see how far users scroll on each page.

In Google Tag Manager, I see how to create the scroll depth triggers. But that’s where I get stuck.

I do see how to create a tag that is fired by the scroll depth triggers, but I’m confused about what tag type to choose. Should I choose Universal Analytics? Am I them supposed to put this tag code somewhere? I thought the purpose of Site Kit was to handle this for me.

@ghopper21 Thanks for getting in touch. The purpose of Site Kit is to connect your site to the various Google products. In the case of Tag Manager Site Kit inserts the required container code on your site, which then allows users to select and publish the various tags using the Tag Manager web interface.

In relation to the specifics of implementing the scroll dept behavior I believe this trigger needs to be attached to the Universal Analytics as you’ve mentioned, after you’ve setup the trigger. While we’re limited to Site Kit plugin support the product experts at the Tag Manager Help Center should be able to confirm and possibly guide you.

Bear in mind if you’re using Tag Manager’s Universal Analytics method of implementing Analytics on your site you should do so before connecting the Analytics module from within Site Kit. The Analytics module inserts the basic Analytics tracking snippet.
