How to show Category Description in Posts!

i have a doubt ??
How can i show the category description in post page?
i put this code:
<?php echo category_description( $category ); ?>
upon the <title> of the post and the result is… nothing!
Why?

ps: i don′t have a good english, but i think you understand ??
