Greetings! Having not used WordPress in several years, I feel a bit lost. I have a home page and a couple other pages on my site, one of them being a blog. I would like to show an excerpt only for my blog posts, but don’t recall how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • After you create the post you can create your own excerpt further down the page in the excerpt area, Under document on the sidebar in Gutenberg.

It looks as though you have this working now.

This is working on the Homepage, but I’d like this on the blog roll…

I think you may have to crete a different template for the blog roll page. Instead of using the whole content you would require the excerpt.

I will research how to create a template.

Copy the blog page template, rename it within the file and the file name, and then make the changes. (You might have to create the template off line then upload it via ftp, depending on your editing plugins.)
