    using shortcode, is it possible to show a gallery’s limited number of images in a page or post?

    Unfortunately no, the shortcode does not take any variables (such as that specifically).

    We do have this in as a feature request in for the developers to review, but there is no guarantee that this will be implemented, but it will be reviewed and discussed. Based on the demand for such a feature, the developers would make their decision on when/if to implement such a request.
