How to show only titles in category?

i have faced a problem and i would be grateful is someone would help to adjust it. when i select on one of the categories, then it’s been shown ONLY Headings of that category (without subtext).
Before i remove the_content() in archives, it works, but then i turn to permalinks, it don’t work anymore.
It don’t use “Archives” part in my index.php anymore. When i turn back defoult permalinks, then it use my Archive part in index.php and all work! Why it’s that?
I dont want use default permalinks, but like “/index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/”.
